A striped stone façade and a fully frescoed interior, minutes from the centre.
A church to discover
Built between the late 13th and early 14th centuries, Santa Maria del Casale stands just outside the centre, near the airport. Its façade alternates light and dark stone bands with rare geometric elegance.
The frescoes
The interior is covered in medieval fresco cycles; above the entrance dominates the great Last Judgement attributed to Rinaldo da Taranto.
A place in history
In 1310 the church hosted the trial of the Templars of the Kingdom of Naples, an episode that adds to an already remarkable visit.
